Thank You!

This is belated but I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who came out to visit me on sunday at Canzine! It was such a fun event and it was so nice to meet so many new amazing people and catch up with the old I haven't seen since grad.
Thanks everyone for your support, it means a lot! xo

ps. I took some analogue photos of the event and will be posting them up as soon as I can finish the roll and get it developed!

For now, here's one from my Instagram stream:

Bunnies & Blooms

Hello Everyone!

Sorry I have been absent for a bit, I've been caught up in the post-grad job hunt :s
Recently I have been working on a lot of patterns. Normally, usually, I don't draw rabbits (because so many of my friends do and it seemed a bit like copying them) but I was doodling about a month ago and rabbits resulted! I've turned them into patterns and hope to have them made into wrapping paper or use them in book binding in the near future. For any of you planning to attend Canzine this year, look forward to some bunny wrapping paper ;)

Hello! :)

I finally broke down and got Tumblr!

I'm using it as a mood / inspiration board. I've slowly been posting photos and things I find I want to draw, or are pretty, etc.
Originally I got Pintrest for this same reason, but I don't really love the layout.

So here we go, enjoy the eye candy! http://emilytaylorillustration.tumblr.com/

Hello Bonjour!

Anyone in Paris this coming October? (I wish I were!) Because if so, you should stop by FANZINES! at The Marguerite Duras Public Library.

I sent a couple zines to Paris to be a part of this zine exhibition - very exciting! The festival celebrates zines and self-published books, and is organized by Papier Gaché. The zines will be exhibited for three weeks in Paris and then will become part of the permanent collection of the Public Library for anyone to see!

The festival runs from October 17th through to November 4th (2012).

For further information on this excellent festival: http://fanzines.papiergache.net/en/2012/06/09/appel-a-contributions/

Zine in Progress

I've finished all the art for this zine! Now I need to get all the images scanned and cleaned in Photoshop, thrown into InDesign and make up the layout, and then get it printed and assembled!
Here's a preview of the cover:

Spoonflower Shop

I'm currently setting up a Spoonflower shop! :)
I've found I've begun to be very interested in surface design, specifically in textile illustration. This will be the grand experiment, seeing how my illustrations translate onto fabric.
I've ordered the test swatches, and if the colours and images turn out well, expect the shop to be up and fabrics for sale within a month!
Here's a preview:

Poison Berry Zine

Working on a zine right now. There's a lot of images and it's proving difficult to configure the layout for printing!

Comic: Our Compost Misadventure

* I apologize for the profanity some people may find offensive. I merely was recording events as they happened as accurately as possible.
This happened last spring, just before my roommates and I moved out of our old house...

* I was trying to experiment more with the use of scanned textures ... if anyone was wondering at the abundance of them!

The Challenges of Making a Website

I'm currently trying to make a website, as I wrote in a previous post. I originally elected to create my site from scratch in Dreamweaver, but I find that I am overwhelmed by the complexities of the program and completely lost within the language of html. Had I not the time constraints placed upon me (my site must be up and running by the end of the semester!) I would continue to try learning the program. So now, after stressing uselessly about my site for a couple weeks, I've decided to use 4ormat. IT'S SO MUCH EASIER; it still looks professional, minus all of the headaches of dreamweaver! It's such a relief!

Anyway, this basically sums up my attempts to make a site so far ...
 and saved ...

Exciting News!

Yes, there is a real website in the works! And as of today, I am the proud owner of a domain name! ;)
More to come later!
