Disco (again)
Experimenting with 'aqua board' - same thing as clay boards I think ... not sure if I'm a fan yet ...

Father's Day!
I'm a bit late posting this one ... and because I was stupid and left the final piece up north I will be delayed posting a pic of it ...
* It's a porcupine ... in the works ... my dad hates these things - there is one, literally, eating the wooden sidings off our farmhouse.

Thank You cards
I wanted to send out thank you's to everyone that sent me gifts or cards while I was in the hospital and recovering at home - I wanted something more personal so here they are ...
* My boyfriend was joking about this gender-confused hedgehog ... he's a little pink! ;)

Muffins + Squirrels Card
Mmmmmuffins & Squirrels

This has a much subtler ink gradient than what is represented here ... this image is too harsh to show the full black to brown transition.

Little Squirrel, Little Squirrel!
Started painting again :) This piece started out as one to illustrate misgivings, a feeling I've been having often of late it seems ... yet somehow I changed my mind along the way ... and this little blushing squirrel emerged.

Magpie Nest
It's another oldie! Well, not too old.. circa last summer :) Just an ink doodle, an illu for my jewelry company Magpie Tendencies ...

I feel like if I were to be an animal of some sort I'd be a magpie ... they're the hoarders of the animal world lol

Narwhal VS. Giant Squid
... the squid won.
My boyfriend and I had a bet a couple months ago (don't remember what we were betting now) but the betting price was one complete illustration, the topic: a narwhal fighting a giant squid. Well, I lost ... but this was probably the best bet to lose :)
Continuing the whole textured-piece-flat-colours look ...

Creating the background took the longest ... working with glasing and scumbling(?) acrylic paint like Terry Schoffner taught us last semester:

Strange Dreams
I keep having these weird dreams, but this is one of the strangest I've had so far. My boyfriend appeared in the dream at one point, and so we thought it would be fun if we both illustrated what I dreamt and then compared our renditions.
My aim this summer was/is to work and further familiarize myself with acrylics ... recently I have been attempting to give my pieces more texture, while still incorporating the bold, flat colours that Gary Taxali pushed last semester ... enjoy :)
